The Spectro Genesis is an automatic optical emission spectrometer providing simultaneous measurements. It uses inductively-coupled plasma excitation and a semiconductor-based detector system for quantitative and semi-quantitate analysis of liquids.
The liquid sample is nebulized and fed into the plasma as an aerosol. The high temperature of the plasma (6000-8000K) evaporates the atoms. The atoms are excited and partly ionized.
The excited atoms and ions emit an element specific radiation. A transfer optics feeds this radiation into the optical system
The emitted radiation is diffracted into its spectral components in the optical system. The intensity is measured using semiconductor detectors (CCD)
After processing the measuring signals in the unit, the measured element intensities are evaluated by the Smart Analyzer software.
Methods are set up prior to measuring. Calibration functions for each element to be determined are stored in these methods. concentrations are calculated form the measured intensities using these methods. concentrations are displayed on the screen and can be printed or saved in a database.

We are offerring this instrument at a heavily reduced price to reflect the following issue reported by it's original owner who purchased it in 2006 for £31,000. These comments below come directly from Ametek who have supported the instrument from new.

"Our last visit to this instrument was in August 2014, when we did visit there was a problem with the plasma, this could be a fault with either the HV Generator or the Oscillator or even both.
At this stage for a guide the cost of replacement of these items is:
HV Generator    part number 77020076                   price £5,545.57
Oscillator             part number 76023118E                 price £5,077.02 (it may also be necessary to order part number 75170528, this is a reversion kit if the oscillator has not been changed since the newer 76023118E was manufactured price £158.35)
The above prices do not include Labour & Travel to fit the parts, this would be charged in addition at our service rates of
·        Non Service Agreement, 2017, £157 / hour
·        Service Agreement, 2017, £125 / hour
It is strongly recommended that the instrument is serviced, our service package includes all engineer labour, travel and the parts we use following our AMECARE checklist procedure, copy attached. The price for this is £2,060.01."
